Myenergi

Increasing EV charger accessibility through third-party integrations

Myenergi, a leading British company in renewable energy, needed a solution to integrate their EV chargers - zappi - with third-party platforms using the Open Charge Point Protocol. This was essential for expanding into markets where OCPP is required for tax reporting and public charging.

The Mission

Myenergi's chargers communicated via their own protocol, limiting their use with third-party systems. Our task was to create a cloud-to-cloud OCPP translation service (OCPP is an open communication standard between charge points and backend platforms) that would make Myenergi’s chargers compatible with OCPP without requiring hardware changes.

The Solution

We developed a cloud solution that converts Myenergi’s API calls into OCPP actions, enabling seamless communication with third-party platforms. This allowed Myenergi's chargers to support features like:

  • Third-party platform integration for public and business use
  • Authorization of charging sessions using RFID or PIN
  • Centralized billing and control through OCPP providers

We were working iteratively, starting with an MVP and gradually adding more complex features.

The Outcome

The OCPP cloud-to-cloud solution enabled Myenergi to enter new markets and enhanced customer satisfaction by allowing users to integrate their EV chargers with third-party systems easily. The solution broadens the appeal of Myenergi chargers, making them suitable for both residential and commercial use. This video is a good example of a hotel chain using our solution.
